‘Madden’ Teaser Reveals Best Look Yet At Nicolas Cage As NFL Legend John Madden
A first look at Madden, the much-anticipated sports biopic about the life of NFL coach and broadcaster John Madden, has been revealed with an official teaser trailer that spotlights Nicolas Cage in the title role.
The clip gives an early glimpse of Cage’s transformation into the larger-than-life football figure known for leading the Oakland Raiders to a Super Bowl title in 1976 and later becoming one of the most recognizable broadcasters in NFL history and the face of the massive Madden NFL video game franchise.
Directed by David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle), Madden traces the TV icon’s journey from the sidelines to sports media prominence and pop culture lore with the help of a stacked supporting cast.
Christian Bale stars as Raiders owner Al Davis, the controversial executive whose relationship with Madden defined an era of the franchise’s history. The cast also includes Kathryn Hahn as Virginia Madden, Madden’s wife; Sienna Miller as Carol Davis; John Mulaney as Electronic Arts founder Trip Hawkins; and comedian Shane Gillis in an undisclosed role.
The first official teaser trailer highlights key chapters in Madden’s life, including a bulked-up Cage furiously scribbling plays and Bale’s Davis intoning, “There’s only one John Madden. They didn’t make another one.”
Madden is scheduled for a Thanksgiving release on November 26, 2026. It’s widely expected to premiere on Amazon’s Prime Video, as there are no details yet for a theatrical release. Check out the teaser trailer below.
