Man, 19, charged after two teen girls ‘raped & sexually assaulted near train station’ as witnesses urged to come forward

A 19-YEAR-OLD man has been charged in relation to two alleged sexual assaults against teen girls.

The alleged attacks took place near Digby and Sowton station in Exeter and police are now urging any witnesses to come forward.

Police were notified that one unnamed girl was raped and a second sexually assaulted on Friday 9 May.

An investigation was launched, which led police to Sonny Boyes – a 19-year-old who is also from Exeter.

Subsequently, he was charged with two offences of rape and three offences of assault by penetration relating to the two victims.

Mr Boyes will face a trial at Exeter Magistrates Court on May 12.

Ahead of the trial, Detective Inspector Emma Lefort from Exeter CID said: “The victims continue to be supported by our specialist officers at this time.

“We continue to investigate the incidents and want to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Digby and Sowton railway station, or on a train passing through, between 8.45pm and 10pm on Friday 9 May.
