Man, 86, arrested in connection with Llhanharry Murders more than 30 years later

An 86-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murders of Harry and Megan Tooze in 1993.
The couple, from Llanharry, near Bridgend in south Wales, were found dead with gunshots on July 26 that year.
South Wales police began a forensic review of the murder case in 2023, and announced today they’ve arrested someone in connection with the grisly case.
Harry, 64, and Megan, 67, were last seen on the morning of July 26 to collect their pensions in nearby Llanharry.
Witnesses saw them return to their farm around 11 am, but at 1.30 pm, two gunshots were heard by neighbours.

Police went to the property after the couple didn’t answer a phone call from their daughter, and discovered their bodies in a cow shed.

They had both been shot in the head with a shotgun and covered in carpet.
Their daughter Cheryl’s boyfriend, Jonathan Jones, was found guilty of their murders in 1995 but was later freed on appeal. Cheryl stood by him throughout, and three appeal judges took just five minutes to overturn his conviction after it emerged police had failed to seal the crime scene properly.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Superintendent Mark Lewis, said: ‘While this arrest is clearly a significant development in the investigation, our enquiries are very much ongoing.
‘This case has affected many people over the years, and our aim is to find the answers to the unanswered questions which remain about their deaths over 30 years on.
‘Even with this passage of time, I appeal to anyone who has any information about the murders to come forward and speak to police.’
