Man accused of fatally stabbing 71-year-old in Englewood

A Chicago man is due in court Tuesday, accused of fatally stabbing a 71-year-old man during an argument in Englewood.

Darius Barney, 25, was arrested in the 800 block of East 63rd Street less than two hours after the fatal stabbing Saturday night, Chicago police said. Barney, of South Shore, was charged with first degree murder.

Around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, the still-unidentified man was stabbed in the abdomen in the 100 block of West 63rd Street and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he died, officials said.

Barney, of the 6700 block of South Chappel Avenue, was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
