Man accused of fatally stabbing Blue Line passenger in Loop

A man is expected to appear for a detention hearing after he was charged with a fatal stabbing at a CTA Blue Line station in the Loop over the weekend.

Demetrius Thurman, 40, was arrested Sunday in the 200 block of South Canal Street and charged with first degree murder, Chicago police said.

On Saturday, a 37-year-old man was at the Clark and Lake station at 124 W. Lake St. when he was stabbed by someone around 2:30 a.m., police said.

The 37-year-old suffered wounds to the chest and abdomen and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Thurman, of the 7000 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue,
is expected to appear for a detention hearing Tuesday.
