A man fleeing a traffic stop is accused of running into a Chicago police officer and dragging them, causing their gun to discharge in West Garfield Park earlier this month.
Malcolm Harris, 40 and of Austin,, was charged with attempted first degree and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, police said.
Harris was identified as the motorist who hit and dragged a police officer earlier this month in the 4700 block of West Madison Avenue around 6:40 p.m. May 3, police said.
As the officer fell to the ground, their weapon discharged, authorities said.
Harris was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
