Charges are pending for a man who allegedly barricaded himself in a home after he allegedly killed a man and seriously injured a woman in a shooting late Sunday in Austin.
Just before midnight, the 25-year-old man and 35-year-old woman were arguing with someone they knew in the 4800 block of West Superior Street when that person shot them both, Chicago police said.
The man was shot in his body and taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name has not been released.
The woman was shot in her right flank and taken to Stroger in serious condition, officials said.
The gunman then fled into a nearby home, prompting a SWAT response which ended “a short time later” when he turned himself in at the Austin Police District station, authorities said.
Area 5 detectives are investigating.
