Man charged in fatal Little Village shooting over Labor Day weekend

A man is facing murder charges in connection with a fatal Labor Day weekend shooting in Little Village, according to Chicago police.

Ramiro Sanchez, 39, was arrested less than half a mile from the scene of the shooting two hours after it took place, police said. He faces a charge of first-degree murder.

Efrain Sanchez, 48, was standing outside in the 2600 block of South Kolin Avenue at 11 a.m. Monday when Ramiro Sanchez approached and shot him multiple times, police said. Efrain Sanchez was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he later died.

Ramiro Sanchez was due in court Thursday.
