A man is facing attempted murder charges in the beating of a man Thursday night in Edgewater, Chicago police said.
Roosevelt McCree, 49, faces charges for first-degree attempted murder and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. He was also cited for drinking in public, police said.
Police and fire officials responded to a call of a person shot at 10:10 p.m. Thursday and found a man on the ground in the 5800 block of North Kenmore Avenue, police said. The man had been struck in the head with a “blunt object,” but he was not shot.
He was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition, police said.
McCree is due in court Tuesday.
