Man charged with fatally shooting woman during New Year’s Day argument in North Lawndale

A man was charged with fatally shooting a woman during an argument on New Year’s Day in North Lawndale on the West Side.

Reginald Freeman, 38, was arrested in the 3200 block of West Roosevelt Road minutes after the shooting of Martina L. Mosby and charged with first degree murder, Chicago police said.

Around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, Mosby and Freeman were arguing in a home in the 1200 block of South Sawyer Avenue when Freeman allegedly shot her several times, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Mosby was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition and died at 1:18 a.m. Thursday, police and the medical examiner’s office said.

Freeman was scheduled to appear in court Friday.
