A man has been charged with killing a woman found beaten to death earlier this month inside an abandoned building in Englewood.
Antwon Chambers, 32, faces charges of first-degree murder and murder with a strong probability of death or injury, Chicago police said Sunday.
On Dec. 9, Chambers allegedly attacked Terryn Winters, 34, inside an abandoned building in the 7000 block of South Normal Boulevard, police said.
Officers found Winters unresponsive with multiple blunt force injuries, according to a police report.
A large wrench was found next to her body, the report said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A GoFundMe launched by her older sister describes Winters as “the light of every party.” Winters is survived by a son, according to the page.
Chambers was arrested Thursday in the 500 block of West 69th Street, police said.
He is scheduled to appear for a detention hearing Sunday.
