Man convicted in 2023 fatal shootings of two men outside motorcycle club in Denver

A jury convicted Shon McPherson, 34, of first-degree murder in the shootings of two men outside a motorcycle club in Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood in 2023.

The Denver District Attorney’s office said McPherson was convicted Tuesday of a total of eight charges, which included six counts of first-degree attempted murder. Michael David, 43, and Joshua Batts, 39, were shot and killed at the Hell’s Lovers Motorcycle Club at around 3 a.m. Nov. 5.

Three more people were injured in the shootings.

McPherson faces life in prison without the possibility of parole when he is sentenced Aug. 11, the DA’s office said.

A second man, Todd Washington, 41, was charged in the shootings. The status of his case was unclear Friday.

According to the arrest affidavits, Washington’s daughter called him after she was kicked out of the club and one of the security guards was “putting his hands on her.” Washington and McPherson arrived at the club shortly after and started scouting the area, investigators said.

Washington and McPherson then confronted the security guards and began shooting as they ran toward the cars, according to the affidavits, which included video footage from surveillance cameras.
