A man was hospitalized Friday after leading law enforcement on a car chase across Limon, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies and Limon police officers were conducting a narcotics investigation Friday when they tried to contact three suspects at a gas station in the 700 block of Main Street, according to a news release from the Colorado State Patrol.
One of the three people was detained at the gas station, but the other two fled. On their way out of the parking lot, the driver collided with at least one patrol vehicle and another bystander’s car, according to the agency’s news release.
A Lincoln County deputy fired at the suspects’ car as they drove away, but state patrol officials declined to say whether either person inside was hit.
Lincoln County deputies, Limon officers and state patrol troopers pursued the driver across town until a deputy “performed a tactical vehicle intervention” and forced the suspect’s car to stop near U.S. 24, the news release stated.
The passenger got out of the car and surrendered, but state patrol officials said the driver refused to exit and pulled out a gun. That’s when a Lincoln County deputy used a Taser on the man and pulled him out, according to the agency.
State patrol officials said the man received medical treatment at the scene and was taken to a hospital, but it’s unclear whether he was injured in the shooting or the crash.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office could not be reached for comment.
The 23rd Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting.
