Man shot dead in Morgan Hill; alleged gunman arrested

MORGAN HILL — A man was shot and killed Wednesday morning in Morgan Hill and the alleged gunman was arrested, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at 7:11 a.m. When officers arrived to the 100 block of Tennant Avenue, they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot to his torso, Morgan Hill police said. He died at the scene.

After witnesses identified the suspect, police arrested 30-year-old Jesus Garcia, a resident of Morgan Hill, authorities said. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police have not yet determined the motive behind the homicide, but the investigation is ongoing.

The killing is the first homicide of 2024 in Morgan Hill, police said.

The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity, authorities said.
