OAKLAND — A shooting during a robbery in the Fruitvale District early Thursday injured a man, police said.

The gunfire happened about 6:50 a.m. in the 3600 block of E. 12th Street and wounded the man in the leg, police said.

According to police, the shooting happened during a the rubber, and the person who was shot had his cell phone taken.

Police said the suspect fled in a vehicle. They did not have an adequate description of the suspect.

The man was at a hospital in stable condition, police said.
