PALO ALTO — A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing Thursday night in Palo Alto, police said.
Around 11:35 p.m., a police officer was flagged down in the 400 block of Ramona Street by a man who said he had just been stabbed, according to the Palo Alto Police Department.
The victim told the officer he had gotten into an argument with another man inside a business in the 400 block of Waverley Street. The squabble continued outside, where it turned physical and the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times, police said.
The victim was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries, which were not considered life-threatening, according to police.
The suspect — identified as Diyar Polat, 36, of Palo Alto — was found near the scene and detained without incident, police said. He was later booked into Santa Clara County jail.
Polat is being held without bail, according to jail records.
The suspect and victim did not know each other prior to the altercation, police said.
