Man wounded multiple times in Oakland shooting

OAKLAND — A 37-year-old man was shot multiple times in East Oakland Friday morning, authorities said.

The man was in stable condition at a hospital where he was being treated for at least three gunshot wounds, authorities said.

The shooting happened about 2:37 a.m. Friday in the 5700 block of International Boulevard and caused a gunshot detection system alert, authorities said.

According to initial police reports, the man was shot after getting into a confrontation with another man, possibly over a woman. Police have not said if the two men knew each other.

The suspect fled before police got to the scene. Numerous shell casings were found in the area.
