Map: Biggest of the California wildfires that started amid Monday’s lightning

Monday’s lightning storms ignited fires across California’s Central Valley, some of which quickly grew past 500 acres.

Eastern Fresno County alone recorded more than 1,000 lightning strikes in three hours, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said.

2/ Amoruso, 502 acres, 80% containment at 9:11 p.m. Monday. The fire northwest of Rocklin started around 5 p.m. and exploded to 350 acres in its first half-hour but then was quickly controlled, and there was no further spread after 6 p.m.
