Notting Hill Carnival is happening this weekend with the vibrant London street party kicking off on Sunday and running until Monday August 25.
Naturally, though, there’ll be some travel disruption for those trying to reach the carnival, locals who call the area home, and Londoners trying to get from A to B in the vicinity.
And it’s not just public transport, either, as a number of roads will be closed off to make way for the parade.
Here’s a full guide to Notting Hill Carnival road closures, Tube station closures, and bus diversions.

Are there Tube restrictions in place?
On carnival days, the London Underground will be incredibly busy.
Expect smaller tube stations to be particularly rammed on August 24 and August 25 – so, if you can, do keep alternate routes in mind when travelling around.

Transport for London (TfL) advises: ‘For the easiest and least crowded journey, take the Tube or Elizabeth line to Paddington Station. Notting Hill Carnival is a short walk away.
‘Follow the signed route to and from the carnival.’
Various stations near the Notting Hill Carnival route will either be closed or will operate a shorter timetable on the relevant days.
They include:
Notting Hill Carnival 2025 Tube closures and timetable changes
- Ladbroke Grove – Closed
- Latimer Road – Closes at 11.30pm, and may close for short periods when busy
- Notting Hill Gate – Exit only between 11am and 6pm. District/Circle lines will not stop. No interchange between Central line and District and Circle. May close for short periods
- Westbourne Park – Exit only from 11am.
- Holland Park – Exit only between 11am and 3pm, when it closes
- Royal Oak – Exit only between 11am and 6pm, when it closes
- Kensal Green – Expect to wait in queues outside the station in the afternoon and evening
- Kensal Rise – Chamberlayne Road entrance closes at 6pm, when a queuing system starts outside the Station Terrace entrance

Are there any other travel disruptions in London this weekend?
Yes – the most significant disruption will be on the East Coast Main Line from London Kings Cross.
Engineers have decided the best time to do major improvements to the busy stretch of railway is a bank holiday weekend when the Notting Hill Carnival, Edinburgh Fringe, and All Points East festival are taking place.
The works between Kings Cross and Peterborough will last from 10pm on Saturday until 8am on Monday.
As a result, there will be no LNER trains to or from Kings Cross from 10pm on Saturday, all day on Sunday, and before 8am on Monday.
Lumo, Hull Trains, Great Northern/Thameslink and Grand Central are also altering their timetables – check which trains are running on the National Rail site here.
