Meghan Markle’s communications chief quits after mere months
Just four months after taking on the role as communications director for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, Emily Robinson has decided to step down.
“Ms. Robinson oversaw project-based work for a very successful season of ‘With Love, Meghan’ and additional support for the production company,” a spokesperson for the royal couple told People. “She did an excellent job and completed these projects with great success.”
Robinson, who spent eight years as Netflix’s senior director of publicity before leaving in May 2024, is the latest in a string of communications staffers to exit the Sussexes’ team in recent years.
After stepping back from royal life in 2020 and settling in California, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have faced a series of staffing changes, most recently the departures of deputy press secretary Kyle Boulia and U.K. press officer Charlie Gipson, who both left in June after a year.
In 2024, Ashley Hansen, who had served as the royal couple’s global press secretary and head of communications, left the job to launch her own communications firm.

In the years after their move, the couple partnered with Netflix to produce a range of shows, including “With Love, Meghan,”where Markle shares her love for cooking, gardening and entertaining celebrity guests. In August, the Sussexes expanded their partnership with the streamer.
“We’re proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand,” Markle said in a statement in August, referring to her lifestyle product line. “My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision.”
The couple’s production company, Archewell Productions, is also working on a TV adaptation of Carley Fortune’s novel “Meet Me at the Lake.“
On Thursday, Markle teased an upcoming announcement on her Instagram writing, “Save the Date 10.28.25.”
