Meghan Markle has made a return to Instagram with a message marking the new year.

The Duchess of Sussex shared a video smiling and running along a beach, before stopping to write ‘2025’ in the sand.

She’s now claimed the handle ‘@meghan’, with the account already racking up 135,000 followers.

Meghan isn’t yet following any other accounts, and she’s only shared the one video on her profile so far.

The Sussexes revealed a rare glimpse of their children Lilibet, three, and Archie, five, when they shared their 2024 Christmas card.

Their latest project, a Netflix documentary series about polo following the World Cup players, was released last month – though reportedly the couple only make a brief appearance in the show.

The launch of Meghan’s new Instagram account has led to speculation that the Duchess could be distancing herself from Prince Harry, months after she launched a new brand, American Riviera Orchard.

Details are sparse so far, but it’s thought the brand will focus on lifestyle in the same vein as her previous blog, The Tig.

‘The brand is meant to coincide with the launch of a new cookery show,’ a source told the Daily Mail. ‘Meghan will be making, and selling, products such as jams. And at some point there will be a book and blog etc.’

A trademark filing includes cookbooks, cutlery, linens, table cloths, jams, jellies and nut butters.

A second international filing is even more extensive, covering stationery, garden tools, lights, tote bags and pet collars as well as a vast other variety of homeware.

Closing down The Tig after three years, Meghan wrote: ‘After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig.

‘What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity. You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy.

Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being “the change you wish to see in the world”.

‘Above all, don’t ever forget your worth – as I’ve told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough.’
