Met Gala Photos: Angel Reese, Simone Biles are dazzling at arrivals
Every May, celebrities in the most fabulous couture ascend the steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, and this year, some of Chicago’s brightest stars dazzled on The Big Apple’s iconic blue carpet.
Based on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring costume exhibit, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” this year’s gala will be the first to focus exclusively on Black designers, and the first in more than 20 years to have a menswear theme. The gala serves as a fundraiser for the museum’s Art Costume Institute.
Chicago WNBA basketball superstar Angel Reese returned to the Met Gala on Monday night, wearing a sleek, two-piece black gown by Thom Browne. Reese is among the event’s host committee for this year’s event.

Olympic champion gymnast Simone Biles arrived at the Met’s steps wearing a bright blue minidress with a matching cape from Harbison Studio. Biles’ husband and Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens wore an all-white suit with a blue brooch matching his wife’s dress as the couple made their entrance. Biles and Owens attended the Met Gala together for the first time, on the eve of their second wedding anniversary. The couple is also among the event’s exclusive host committee members.

Stars of the Chicago-based hit series “The Bear” Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri also attended the star-studded event. According to People.com, Edebiri wore a white floor-length shirtdress and leather tailcoat by Maximilian Davis, the creative director of Ferragamo. White, attending his first Met Gala, sported a suit by Louis Vuitton.
Harvey’s Keke Palmer, who stars in the upcoming Peacock series “The ‘Burbs,” wore a white Vera Wang gown paired with sleek black pants.
