The Giants used their first two selections of the 2025 MLB draft on a pair of contact-oriented, middle-of-the-diamond position players by selecting Tennessee shortstop Gavin Kilen in the first round and Rutgers outfielder Trevor Cohen in the third round. On the draft’s second day, San Francisco will have 16 picks from rounds 4-20.
Along with not having a second-round pick, the Giants also will not have a fifth-round pick after signing Willy Adames to a seven-year, $182 million deal.
Here is who the Giants selected on day two:
Fourth Round (116th overall): Lorenzo Meola, SS, Stetson
Meola, 22, spent three seasons at Stetson, where he had a slash line of .303/.390/.484 with 25 homers over 172 games. The shortstop’s strongest tool projects to be his defense, which MLB Pipeline rated as 60 on the 20-80 scouting scale.
Meola is a cousin of USA soccer goalkeeper Tony Meola, who represented the United States at the 1990, 1994 and 2002 World Cups.
This story will be updated as the Giants draft throughout the morning.
