A 27-year-old woman was inside, having just dropped off her fiancé.

Luckily she had climbed out of the car when she began to smell smoke and is thought to be unharmed.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue rushed to the scene and arrived 10 minutes.

Firefighters quickly fought to extinguish the inferno as the bright orange flames soared 15ft high and smoke poured out of the vehicle.

One local attempted to put it out himself with a fire extinguisher before the emergency services arrived.

A witness told the Bournemouth Echo that drivers shockingly drove past as the car burned to a crisp.

The driver who was inside the car told the news site “it just started smoking and I got out of the car, then it caught fire”.

She said she only bought the car a year ago.

“We’re not exactly well off. It hasn’t been a great year for my family personally, and I can’t believe this happened,” she added.

Photos show the charred car burned inside and out, with most of the hood roasted off.

Several “small explosions” are believed to have gone off inside the car.

The fire was under control by 9.30am, but the cause is not known yet.
