Motorcyclist killed in collision, Fremont police said

FREMONT — A motorcyclist was killed in Fremont on Sunday after she struck a tree while practicing riding their newly purchased motorcycle, according to a police press release.

The victim was Kim Tran, a 35-year-old woman from Fremont. Her death is the city’s seventh fatal traffic collision this year,

Fremont police received a call around 9:25 a.m. of a injured motorcyclist on the 6900 block of Dumbarton Circle. Officers and firefighters responded and found the motorcyclist down and unresponsive. First responders from the fire department attempted to give medical aid to the motorcyclist, but she were ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation by the Fremont Police Department Traffic Investigations revealed that the motorcyclist was trying to practice riding their new motorcycle in a parking lot near a pathway, but veered off and hit a tree.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but drugs or alcohol impairment were ruled out as possible factors.
