Motorcyclist shoots two attackers in Auburn Gresham; person of interest in custody

A motorcyclist who was attacked Monday night shot two of the attackers in Auburn Gresham, Chicago police said.

The motorcyclist was in the 700 block of West 66th Street at 7:15 p.m. when he was attacked by multiple people, police said. He then shot at them with a handgun, wounding a 25-year-old man and 26-year-old man. Police say the motorcyclist fled the scene.

The 26-year-old was shot in the leg and was in serious condition; the 25-year-old was shot in the arm and was in fair condition; both were taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.

A person of interest was brought in for questioning, and an investigation is ongoing.
