Motorist cited after striking 73-year-old pedestrian in Garfield Ridge

A 73-year-old woman is in good condition after being hit by a car while crossing a street Wednesday afternoon in Garfield Ridge.

The woman was on a crosswalk about 1:45 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Archer Avenue when another woman, 51, driving a blue sport utility vehicle turned westbound at the intersection and struck her, Chicago police said.

The driver stayed at the scene and called for medical assistance for the victim, who was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. The driver was issued a traffic citation.
