Murder probe launched after woman, 45, stabbed to death at flat as cops hunt knifeman

A MURDER investigation has been launched after a woman was brutally stabbed to death at a flat.

The 45-year-old victim was found with injuries after police rushed to an address in Enfield, north London, at around 7pm on Saturday.

Metropolitan Police is currently hunting the knife-wielding attacker, and no arrests have yet been made in connection with the stabbing.

Cops as well as London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance were in attendance to help treat the woman.

However, despite their best efforts, she was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Her next of kin has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers, police said.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, from the Metropolitan Police who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time.

“As our investigation continues there will be an increased police presence in the area, and a crime scene remains in place.

“We understand this will be very distressing to the local community and anyone who has concerns can speak to local officers.”

DCI John also made an appeal to the public for information.

He said cops were keen to talk to people who had driven through Ayley Croft between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday who may have dashcam footage.

DCI John added that you can share any footage with the force, even if you do not think it to be significant, by dialling 101, quoting reference CAD 5741/19APRIL.

Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, Borough Commander who oversees policing for Enfield, continued: “We understand the concern that this will cause local residents.

“Neighbourhood officers will be working alongside specialist officers in the coming days to progress the investigation and support the local community.

“Please contact officers if you have any information or any concerns.”

In February, the Sun revealed that London had the total highest number of serious offences involving a blade in the year up to September 2024.
