Mystery as man found dead in field next to major motorway
POLICE have launched an investigation after a man was found dead in a field next to a major motorway.
The body was tragically discovered alongside the M60 in Whitefield, Greater Manchester, shortly before 11am on Monday.
A cordon was put in place as detectives were seen scouring the field throughout the afternoon.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said it was called out to reports of a man being found unconscious at the scene.
Sadly, emergency services pronounced him dead at the scene.
Cops are continuing to carry out enquiries in connection with the man’s death as they try to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
A GMP spokesperson said: “At around 10.45am yesterday morning (Monday, April 14 2025), we were called to reports of an unconscious male on Sandgate Road in Whitefield, Bury.
“Officers attended and sadly found a body in nearby open ground.
“Enquiries into the man’s death are ongoing.”
