US air tankers have crossed the Atlantic towards the UK after Donald Trump met with his military command.

Around a dozen KC-135R/T Stratotankers were spotted on Flight Radar making the journey on Sunday night, with some heading to RAF Mildenhall.

It has been theorised the jets are stopping in the UK to refuel for an urgent military requirement.

The last time the US moved so many tankers was five days before the Air Force struck Iran’s nuclear facilities.

It may also be linked to Exercise Cobra Warrior 25-2, which is a large-scale Nato training event running from September 12 to October 2 over the North Sea.

John Sitilies, a former State Department diplomacy expert, said the US could also be responding to Russian drones over the Blatic Sea.

He told the Daily Mail: ‘Denmark’s inability to defend its own airspace underscores White House concerns that it is unable to protect and defend its far larger and distant Greenland territory from increasing Chinese and Russian joint air and naval patrols in the emerging Arctic theater of strategic competition.’

But it comes as Trump met with Israel’s leader Benjamin Netanyahu the morning after the jets started their journey, with the US’s top military leaders meeting this morning in Quantico, Virginia today.

The meeting includes hundreds of generals and admirals, including those being summoned back to the US from active conflict zones.

No details have been released on what will be discussed at the summit.

Most of those attending the meeting reportedly do not know the agenda details, and are entering it blind.

A former Pentagon official said ‘it could be anything from a push–up contest to a meeting on national security’.
