A natural gas line ruptured Saturday in Castaic, north of Santa Clarita, prompting the California Highway patrol to halt all traffic on the 5 Freeway.
All lanes on the 5 Freeway are closed and drivers are being redirected to either State Route 126 or State Route 138, said a post on X from the CHP.
The natural gas leak was reported at 4:20 p.m., and the cause is still unclear said Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Brian Kight.
Residents in the nearby area have been directed to shelter in place, no injuries have been reported.
