At least 29 patients were identified on scene after a bus overturned in the San Bernardino Mountains southwest of Running Springs Sunday night, Nov. 9, authorities said.
Crews with the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded around 9 p.m. after the bus overturned on Highway 330 in Smiley Park, formerly known as Fredalba, a small community in the county, fire officials said. Additional ambulances were being requested.
The initial triage found 29 people with injuries, with three upgraded to “immediate” status for transport, the fire department said.
Caltrans was requested to close Highway 330 in the area, California Highway Patrol logs showed.
Agencies responding included the San Bernardino National Forest, American Medical Response and fire departments for Big Bear, Running Springs and Arrowbear.
This is a developing story and no further details were immediately available. Officials have not yet shared the extent of the injuries, how many people were on board or what may have caused the bus to overturn.
