‘Never say never’ on Harry’s return to royal duties and mended relationship with William, expert says

After the claim that Prince Harry would not return to his royal duties unless he receives an apology from his brother, Prince William, another royal expert has given his verdict on the matter.

Duncan Larcombe, a leading expert on the Royals, told Metro the UK should ‘never say never’ when it comes to Harry repairing his reputation and picking up Royal duties again after the rift with William.

From the outside looking in, the relationship between the Prince Harry and Prince William, who once walked side by side as boys behind their mother’s coffin after her untimely death in Paris in 1997, has suffered terribly over the last few years.

But Duncan points out: ‘You can never say never. Camilla was once public enemy number one. She was dubbed the Rottweiler by Princess Diana – she was universally loathed.

‘And now, she’s Queen. I think she has an awful lot of public support behind her.
No matter how bad things get for Harry with his reputation, there’s always a chance,’ he said, referencing both Harry’s potential return to Royal duties and mending a relationship with his brother.

But Duncan did warn that if the Duke of Sussex keeps ‘digging his heels in’ to get an apology from his brother before ‘extending an olive branch’, he’ll likely be waiting a long time.

Tensions between the brothers seemingly came to a head during a confrontation, detailed in Harry’s autobiography ‘Spare’, where the Duke of Sussex accused the Prince of Wales of physically attacking him.

Buckingham Palace has consistently refused to comment on any of the details and accusations that Prince Harry has made.

After King Charles’ shock cancer diagnosis earlier this year, it was thought the two brothers might make amends, but no such reunion has been seen.

Sources close to William told The Times Prince Harry had not planned on meeting with his brother when he jetted to London after his dad’s diagnosis.

But the pair apparently haven’t spoken in more than a year and William doesn’t seem keen to take the first step towards reconciliation – and according to sources close to Harry, neither does he.

Though just days ago, Prince Harry attended his uncle’s funeral alongside his brother.

St Mary’s Church reverend Dan Tansey told the newspaper he didn’t see the two princes arrive at the church but said he was surprised to see the pair.

The pair were said to have kept their distance as they sat at the back of the church.

A former BBC royal correspondent has said the memorial service was ‘no reunion’ between the royal brothers.
