New hi-fi lounge serving Middle Eastern food is coming to Walnut Creek

The creators of World Famous Hotboys and LITA Walnut Creek are opening Stereo 41, a hi-fi lounge in Walnut Creek.

Stereo 41 will serve contemporary Middle Eastern food with Japanese nuance, according to Victor Abu-Ghaben, one of the restaurateurs involved with the project.

“The food is not traditional Middle Eastern food; it’s very contemporary,” Abu-Ghaben said.

The owners are consulting with Andres Giraldo Flores of Oakland’s Snail Bar to develop the menu. The kitchen will be led by executive chef Jonathan De La Torre, an Oakland native who previously worked at San Francisco’s Mourad, Nopa and Quince.

Stereo 41 is still under construction and going through the permit process but is hoping to open in the late summer. It’ll feature indoor and outdoor dining as well as an in-house DJ booth in a 3,500-square foot space that was previously a PG&E service center at 1535 Bonanza Street.

“It’s a really cool building,” Abu-Ghaben said.

Details: Opening late summer at 1535 Bonanza St. in Walnut Creek.
