New-look San Jose Sharks announce preseason schedule

SAN JOSE — The San Jose Sharks will play four times at home as part of their six-game preseason schedule, which was announced Thursday.

The Sharks play at home against the Anaheim Ducks and Vegas Golden Knights on Sept. 22 and 24, respectively. San Jose also has home games on Oct. 1 against Utah HC and Oct. 4 against the Ducks.

The Sharks also play in Anaheim on Sept. 26 and close the preseason in Las Vegas on Oct. 5.

All preseason games will be broadcast on the Sharks Audio Network. Broadcast platforms beyond that will be announced later. Last season, for the first time, all of the team’s home preseason games were video streamed on sjsharks.com and the team’s app.

Given the number of new faces the Sharks are expected to have, there is bound to be heightened interest in the team this preseason.

Top prospect Will Smith signed with the Sharks last month, and Macklin Celebrini is expected to be drafted No. 1 overall by San Jose in the first round of the NHL Draft next Thursday. Celebrini has still not officially declared whether he turn pro or return to Boston University for his sophomore year.

The Sharks on Wednesday acquired Ty Dellandrea from the Dallas Stars and claimed Barclay Goodrow of waivers from the New York Rangers. More roster changes are expected after the Sharks finished this past season with the NHL’s worst record at 19-54-9.

The 2024-25 NHL regular season schedule is expected to be announced later this month. In the past, the Sharks have opened their training camp three or four days before their first preseason game.
