Newark man charged with misdemeanors after shooting in RV

NEWARK — A local resident was charged with possessing a ghost gun after police investigated a shooting and a tip he was making silencers, court records show.

The 46-year-old man is charged with misdemeanor counts of possessing an unserialized firearm and a bag containing about seven grams of methamphetamine. Both items, along with a billy club, methamphetamine pipes, and rubber tubing, were found during a search of his RV, according to police.

Police began investigating a tip that the man shot at a woman on May 31, causing the bullet to whiz past her face, inside the RV. She allegedly reported that he was also manufacturing silencers and possessed unserialized guns, including an AK-47.

The “ghost gun” police say they found was a pistol, according to court records. Police didn’t find any silencers, nor did prosecutors charge him with shooting at the woman. The man pleaded not guilty in July and is next due in court in two weeks, records show.
