Burger enthusiasts who perked their ears up this week over social media chatter about In-N-Out coming to Chicago will have to keep waiting. The chain denied Thursday that it has any plans to open a location in the Windy City.
Small Cheval will have to do for now.
Posts on TikTok claiming that In-N-Out was coming to Chicago started spreading in the last couple of days, with one user’s post generating over 19,000 likes. The origin seems to be, at least in part, an Instagram post from April Fool’s Day that shows a sign, apparently at 4720 W. Fullerton Ave., signaling the imminent opening of an In-N-Out. “HERE SOON!” the sign announces.
But the California-based chain, which is known for its Double-Double burger, said there is no basis behind the growing chatter. “Unfortunately, any information regarding plans to open In-N-Out Burger locations in Chicago isn’t genuine,” Mike Abbate, In-N-Out’s vice president of store development, told the Sun-Times.
So while In-N-Out is already eyeing expansion east of Texas, with one location already set to open in Tennessee in 2026, Chicago’s wait for its own location grills on.
