On Friday, Xavier Chavez, assistant principal at North Hollywood High School, said the students on the team are part of the highly gifted magnet program at the school. “We’re extremely proud of their success,” he said. “We know this is a young team full of underclassmen, so we’re excited about their future (at National Science Bowl) next year.”
Officials at L.A. Department of Water and Power, who sponsored the earlier local Regional Science Bowl on March 8 involving about 40 high school teams, said in a statement that the team showed, “extraordinary scientific knowledge and teamwork against more than 65 high school regional teams from across the country.”
