The eccentric baby name, it seems, is having a moment.
“Hyperunique monikers have become increasingly popular, particularly among the social media-famous set,” the New York Times declared, providing as an example the influencer baby Aquaman Moses. It went on to quote the insights of a professional baby name consultant whose rates start at $325.
But for no money at all, you can find inspiration on the yearly list of baby names provided by the Social Security Administration.
They’re not quite the most out-there selections: Citing privacy concerns, the agency doesn’t release names selected for fewer than five babies a year. Still, some undeniably creative choices show up in the single-digit section of the list for U.S. children born in 2024.
