Nuggets, Timberwolves to renew rivalry on Christmas, according to report

The Nuggets’ new-age rivalry is making its Christmas debut this year.

Denver will host Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Christmas at Ball Arena, according to a report from ESPN’s Shams Charania. A game time was not revealed.

Division foes with endless crossover between their coaching and front office staffs, the Nuggets and Wolves have faced each other twice in the playoffs in the last three years. Denver eliminated Minnesota on its way to an NBA championship in 2023. Minnesota then returned the favor in a seven-game series the next year en route to the Western Conference Finals.

The Timberwolves reached the conference finals again this past spring, but were on the opposite side of the bracket as Denver, which lost in seven games to eventual NBA champion Oklahoma City in the conference semifinals.

The Nuggets have lost six straight head-to-head matchups with the Timberwolves dating back to Game 6 of their 2024 series. That losing streak doesn’t include a preseason loss and a Summer League loss, during which Edwards yelled from his court-side seat, “It’s all good, I be busting their (butt)” while giving a young Nuggets fan an autograph.
