OAKLAND — Kaiser Permanante’s North Oakland campus near MacArthur Boulevard and Broadway was on lockdown Thursday afternoon as police surrounded a medical building and parking garage.
Kaiser employees said that the lockdown lasted 45 minutes, between approximately 2:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The medical buildings are again operating normally.
Officers were concentrated around the Oakland Medical Office Building’s parking garage, according to a Kaiser spokesperson. The parking garage was back open to the public as of 3:30 p.m.
Authorities have not released details about why officers were in the area.
