Oakland police investigate fourth fatal shooting in less than 24 hours

OAKLAND — Gunfire in an East Oakland neighborhood on Monday night resulted in the fourth shooting death in that city in less than 24 hours, police said.

Three teens dead in two incidents of gunfire during deadly morning in Oakland

The shooting just before 6 p.m. killed a male of an unknown age. Police said they were called to the 2500 block of 98th Avenue, blocks from the Oakland Zoo, and found the person down. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.

His death followed the shooting deaths of three other people in two separate incidents earlier Monday.

The homicide is the 41st of 2024 investigated by Oakland police.

According to police, investigators detained three people for questioning. Police did not announce any arrests.

No other information was available immediately.
