OAKLAND — The suspect in a July homicide has been charged, but under a different name than the one she was arrested under, court records show.
Prosecutors filed a murder charge against 33-year-old Seqyouia Ericks, who was originally arrested as Kiara Mone Smith, according to court records. Ericks was charged with killing Domaquie Robinson, 29, during a July 5 altercation on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland.
Ericks was identified as a suspect after multiple anonymous tipsters contacted police and pointed to her, authorities said. Some of the tipsters claimed to be friends or relatives of Ericks and at least one claimed that Robinson was annoying Ericks and “looking for a fight” but a more specific motive has not been publicly revealed.
Police say the shooting was captured on video. Afterwards, Ericks allegedly messaged a person on Instagram to say that she was planning to “move and disappear,” then fled to Dallas, Texas, where she was arrested in August.
Ericks has pleaded not guilty and is next due in court on Dec. 3 for a pretrial hearing, records show. She is being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin without bail.
