A PAEDO flew 4,000 miles to “marry” a British schoolgirl after grooming her from the US.
Jacob Ewing told the 15-year-old he was a Christian paedophile hunter after targeting her online.
The 44-year-old made the Welsh teen perform “degrading” acts on herself and to watch him perform sex acts.
He also bought wedding rings and got her initials tattooed on his chest while hatching the depraved marriage plot.
Ewing was snared as he arrived at Cardiff Airport last year after travelling from his home in North Carolina to wed the girl.
He has now been jailed for seven years and eight months after admitting a string of offences.
Judge Celia Hughes told Ewing: “I cannot imagine what would have happened if you had been allowed to meet your victim.
“It is very fortunate that you were stopped at the airport.
“You seem to have little grip on reality. You are delusional.”
Newport Crown Court heard Ewing became obsessed with the girl and would send her sex toys.
The divorcee also dreamed of having children with her and bombarded the victim with phonecalls.
Judge Hughes said: “He began to control her, being alternately kind and then unpleasant to her, including saying she shouldn’t sleep covered up at night, even when she was cold.”
The court was told Ewing made the girl watch as he performed sex acts on himself more than 20 times and often left her in tears.
He told the girl he would come to the UK as soon as she was 16 so they could get married and have children.
Ewing then flew from Georgia to Amsterdam before getting a flight from Schiphol Airport to Cardiff.
US officials tipped off British authorities who detained him when he touched down in Wales.
When his bags were searched, police found sickening child abuse films on a laptop – including vile videos of a baby.
Ewing was also carrying a knife and a wooden cosh.
In a victim impact statement, the girl told how Ewing used the webcam “like a game”.
She added: “I struggle to cope with the stress that Jacob put me under. This resulted in a deterioration of my mental health.”
Ewing pleaded guilty to six counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, two of attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act and three of possessing indecent photographs of a child.
He also admitted possession of an article with a blade or point in a public place, and an offensive weapon.
Detective Superintendent Philip O’Connell from Gwent Police said: “Ewing struck up a relationship with a 15-year-old girl online, grooming and exploiting her for over a year before travelling thousands of miles to meet her.
“Working closely with US authorities and UK Border Force he was detained at Cardiff Airport before being arrested and interviewed by our officers.
“The collaboration between agencies meant Ewing was intercepted before he was able to cause any physical harm to the victim.
“However, his actions driven by his sexual gratification and the fear he imposed on his victim, will have a profound impact.
“We’d like to commend the victim in this case, who’s shown strength and great fortitude throughout the investigation and hope that today’s sentence helps in processing and moving forward with her life.
“We welcome the sentence imposed on Ewing and encourage anyone with any concerns or anyone who may think they are a victim of grooming or exploitation to come forward, safe in the knowledge that reports will be taken seriously and handled professionally and compassionately by our officers like in this case.”
