Police, ambulance crews, and firefighters quickly rushed to the scene where four people were treated.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “We are currently dealing with a three-vehicle road traffic collision on Upper Street in Islington.

“One vehicle collided with outdoor seating at a nearby café.

“Officers remain at the scene and are working to assess the circumstances.”

London Ambulance Service said it treated four people at the scene and deployed a number of vehicles, including London’s Air Ambulance.

The emergency crews then rushed two of the injured to a London major trauma centre while two others were quickly taken to hospital.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson told The Sun: “We were called at 7.57am this morning (Thursday 10 April) to reports of a road traffic collision in Upper Street, Islington.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance.

“The first of our crews arrived in one minute.

“Our crews treated four patients at the scene, before taking two to a London major trauma centre and two to hospital.”

London Fire Brigade explained two cars had collided before a third motor then collided with a building and a pedestrian.

Several passersby shared terrifying pictures and videos on social media, showing one of the damaged vehicles resting against the cafe’s outdoor area.

Broken chairs and tables could be spotted scattered along the pavement.

One terrified witness wrote on X: “Shocking crash on Upper Street – a car mounted the pavement and hit a café. Hope everyone’s okay.”

It’s believed that some customers were sat outside the cafe when the horror collision unfolded.

The windscreen of the car left in the middle of the street appears to be entirely shattered, while a pile of sand can be seen on the ground next to it.

There is also some blue sheeting and what seems to be ambulance equipment left next to the van in the centre of the road.

The major route is currently completely blocked between Highbury Corner and Islington Green.

This has led to heavy traffic congestion in surrounding areas, and there is currently a diversion route in place for a number of buses which use Upper Street.
