Pedestrian killed in Concord crash

CONCORD — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on Highway 242 in Concord early Sunday, the California Highway Patrol said in a news release.

CHP officers responded to a crash on southbound 242 south of Clayton Road around 5 a.m.

A burgundy Tesla Model 3 traveling in the fast lane struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Tesla, who remained at the scene and is cooperating with police, was not injured.
