Pedestrian killed in southeast Aurora crash, police say

A woman crossing the street in southeast Aurora died after being hit by a truck Sunday afternoon, police said.

Aurora officers responded to the crash at S. Oak Hill Way and E. Smoky Hill Road in just after 1 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the police department.

The woman was in a crosswalk when the truck, which was turning left from Oak Hill onto Smoky Hill, hit her, police said in the release. Paramedics took her to the hospital, where she later died.

The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will release the woman’s identity and cause of death at a later date.

Police said the driver, who has not been publicly identified, stayed on scene after the crash and is cooperating with investigators.

Neither speed nor alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.
