A pedestrian was fatally struck by a Metra train on Saturday morning in north suburban Glencoe.
Public safety officials were called to the Union Pacific North Railroad line near Green Bay and Maple Hill roads on a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a train about 9:30 a.m., Village of Glencoe officials said.
A female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. She has not been identified.
A preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian crossed the railroad tracks westbound before a southbound Metra train went through the crossing, officials said. A dog was also found dead.
