Commerce City police, who responded Monday morning to a report of shots fired inside a home, are now in a standoff with occupants who have barricaded themselves inside the home.
Police have issued a shelter in place order for the area surrounding the barricade situation, which is taking place in the 5300 block of 63rd Place. Police said the situation was still active as of 11 a.m. Monday.
Police said they were called to the home 7:36 a.m. after receiving a report of shots fired in the home, according to an 8:55 a.m. Facebook update.
“The occupants have continued to be non-compliant with our orders to exit peacefully, instead barricading inside the residence in question,” the Commerce City Police Department said in the post.
SWAT team members and negotiators are on scene, authorities said.
