SAN MATEO COUNTY — A person was fatally injured Thursday evening after falling from a cliff near Devil’s Slide, authorities said.
Authorities received the report about 7:50 p.m., according to San Mateo County Sheriff’s Sgt. Phil Hallworth. Rescuers from the sheriff’s office, CHP and other agencies responded, but the person died from the injuries.
That person’s name was withheld pending confirmation of their identity and notification of their next of kin.
Traffic on Highway 1 was shut down for roughly 2 hours, Hallworth said. No other details were immediately available.
The incident came several hours after a driver crashed off Highway 1 in the Grey Whale Cove area.
